The Project
We initially envision a modest, yet meaningful space:
- A small temple where we can conduct practices and studies
- Minimalist cabins - small refuges for sleeping and meditation
- A simple communal kitchen Shared bathrooms
But behind this simplicity lies an expansive vision: to gradually create a Buddhist study center that can, in the future, become an important place for learning and practicing Dharma in the country.
We seek land that is like nature's embrace:
- Strategic location: not within cities, but also not completely isolated
- Preference for elevated areas, such as hilltops or small mountains
- Easy access, while preserving the essential tranquility for spiritual practice
We estimate that to start, we will need to raise between R$ 200,000 to R$ 400,000 to acquire 3 to 5 hectares of land that meets our criteria.
Why 3 to 5 Hectares?
Our vision for Ananda Vihara goes beyond just a piece of land. We want to create a space that is not just a place of practice, but a true ecosystem of learning, sustainability, and spiritual growth. The investment of R$ 200,000 to R$ 400,000 will allow us to acquire land that meets our current and future needs. But why not start smaller? The answer lies in the long-term vision.
Detailed Land Use:
- Main Temple: 300-400 m²

-10 Simple Meditation Cabins: 15-20 m² each
- Minimal space for sleeping and meditation
- Minimalist and functional design

- Kitchen and Communal Bathrooms Area: 100-150 m²

- Garden and Orchard: Approximately 1-2 hectares
- Fruit trees: orange, banana, guava trees
-Organic garden: vegetables, legumes, herbs

- Animal Husbandry Area: 0.5-1 hectare
-Laying hens
-Dairy cows
-Possible breeding of other sustainable animals

-Outdoor Meditation and Practice Spaces: 1 hectare
-Trails
-Contemplation areas

- Native Vegetation Preservation: 1-2 hectares
- Self-sustainability: Our goal is to create a community model that produces much of its food. The orchard, garden, and animal husbandry are not just food sources but also practices of mindfulness and connection with nature.
Why not a smaller piece of land?
- Would limit our future growth
- Would reduce expansion possibilities
- Would compromise the vision of a complete study center
- Would make self-sustainability impossible
A 3 to 5-hectare property allows us:
- Flexibility for future construction
- Maintain environmental preservation areas
- Create multiple practice spaces
- Develop sustainable agriculture projects
- Maintain essential tranquility for spiritual practice
Every square meter represents a possibility for transformation. We're not just buying land, but planting the seeds of a future center of peace, learning, and harmony with nature. Your contribution is part of this transformative vision.

Imagine a place in the heart of Brazil where peace, compassion, and wisdom can flourish freely. A space where people from all backgrounds can find refuge, learn, meditate, and transform themselves. This is the dream of Ananda Vihara - and you can be a fundamental part of this journey.
Our project is not just about building a center or a monastery. It's about planting seeds of transformation that will grow for generations. Each contribution, whether large or small, is not simply a financial donation, but an investment in peace, self-knowledge, and spiritual growth for our society.
We are aware that this is a long-term project. We are not seeking quick results, but solid and lasting foundations. Our motivation comes from a deep conviction that the Dharma can offer precious tools for individual and collective well-being. We know the path will be challenging, but we are prepared to walk it with patience, determination, and joy.
At this moment, our first major goal is to acquire land that will be the cradle of this dream. A space where in the future we can build not only physical structures, but primarily a community of practice, study, and growth.
We are on a unique journey to create something special: the first seeds of a future Dharma study center and, possibly, the first Gelugpa monastery in Brazil. Our current project is simple, but our dreams are profound.
